As its name indicates, QuickImageComment was designed to provide a simple and fast way of entering and editing digital image comments, including author or artist details. It even allows you to configure the properties you would like to modify.
The application reads and store attributes in XMP, IPTC and EXIF properties, which it displays together with other properties like modification dates. You can even rename files based on these properties.
You can modify more than one file at a time and group them depending on different properties, particularly camera model. You may also enter a shift in recording time for individual groups. You may as well display metadata and even frames of videos depending on your operating system and the components you have installed. If the program cannot display a frame, you will see a black screen after some moments. The program supports almost all video file types.
QuickImageComment allows you to export to text the image properties you select for all the images in a folder and its subfolders. The program also displays image details using numerical and graphical representation of their respective RGB and brightness values.
You can use the program to display RAW image formats if you have installed Microsoft Camera Codec Pack. However, you do not need the codec pack to view the image properties.
To use QuickImageComment, you only need to extract the executable file in your desired directory and launch it. You need to set your preferred language and whether you want the program to check for new versions automatically during the first launch. You may then adjust Mask Field Definitions and Mask Settings depending on your preferences.
You can hide or display the various sections of the main mask individually except the image section. You can also adjust the sizes of the respective areas up to their minimum levels.
Please note that you can modify but not add some properties like vendor-specific EXIF information.
For reading and changing the EXIF, IPTC, and XMP properties the library exiv2 of Andreas Huggel is used. On www.exiv2.org a description of this library can be found as well as extensive information and links to Exif, IPTC and XMP.
The program runs on Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. For Windows 7 and 8, a 64-Bit-version is available. German and English can be selected as language.
